Summer can be a challenging time for families with disabled or seriously ill children, with changes in routine, crowded places and overwhelm in warmer weather. Finding suitable family days out, that are right for your whole family, and fully accessible venues and activities can be time-consuming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our recent research* 79% of families said they would like to spend more time on days out and short breaks with family and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only 26% of families* said they can get the information they need before deciding if a place is accessible to their child or young person before they go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to find accessible days out?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

NHS Better Health<\/a> also have information for accessible family activities both at home, and out and about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, if you’re planning a break away, the Tourism for All<\/a> charity can help you find disabled friendly accommodation, attractions, events, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access cards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Families raising disabled children can also apply for access cards to gain discounted or carer passes to venues and events across the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Max Card<\/a> is a discount card for foster families and families of children with additional needs. It can be used at specified venues across the UK to get free or discounted admission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CEA Card<\/a> gives a complimentary ticket to someone going with a disabled person when they visit a participating cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
