We have teamed up with Guide Dogs so parents and carers raising blind or partially sighted children can learn about the accessibility features on their Apple device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These interactive workshops will dive into Apple accessibility features on iPhones and iPads, making screens easier to see and interact with. Over the course of three online sessions, you’ll learn how to use the Magnifier, navigate your screen with VoiceOver, and customise your device to match your vision needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n Sign up for our workshops\n <\/a>\n\n\n\n

Our Information and Support Manager, Chloe Deyes, tells us: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We understand the importance of digital accessibility for blind or partially sighted children, so they can enjoy their devices on their own.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our Discover Digital services support children, young people and their families to improve their quality of life through access to the digital world. The programme offers free, interactive digital skills workshops and support. They are a safe and engaging space for families to learn new skills and get online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giving families the tools they need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our workshops are a safe and open space for families to learn new skills. Sarah told us how our Discover Digital workshops helped her and her son Cameron build confidence: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have done the iPad accessibility workshop, which was amazing. We’d had an iPad for years, but I didn’t know how many options there were that have helped Cameron. We can now adjust the brightness, and connect his hearing aids to his iPad Bluetooth.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Nothing comes with instructions like these for children like Cameron. Family Fund’s workshops gave me the confidence to look at other apps on the iPad. And they’re so much fun, too. It’s not like school where you’re just told what to do. It’s a really relaxed and fun environment, with plenty of time to stop, think, and ask questions.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
