We’re turning up the heat for this fundraising challenge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walking on hot coals, also known as firewalking, is an ancient practice that showcases the resilience of the human body and mind. We’re giving you the chance to prove your strength while raising money for disabled and seriously ill children and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join York Mix presenters Laura and Leigh for this family-friendly York-based event. It will also feature hot food, drinks, raffles, and entertainment throughout the evening. Bring along your friends to watch your blaze of glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is firewalking?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Firewalking has been practiced across various cultures for centuries. This incredible feat involves individuals walking barefoot across a bed of burning coals, which can reach temperatures as high as 600 degrees Celsius. Despite the immense heat, firewalkers can successfully navigate the fiery path without suffering any burns or injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This extraordinary phenomenon is partly because of the unique properties of coals, which form a layer of insulating ash that prevents direct contact between skin and the burning embers. Individuals are also taught mental and physical techniques that help them get across the coals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event itinerary <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This event is run in partnership with firewalking professionals, who will guide you through the process on the day. After a seminar at 5.00pm, the team will prepare the coals ready for your firewalking at 6.30pm. We will then do a presentation of medals and certificates to firewalkers in front of family and friends at 7.15pm, in time for the raffle draw at 7.45pm. The RI club house will remain open for food and drinks throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
