Logan is two years old and lives in Lancashire with his parents, Rebecca and Jay, and baby sister, Ava. He has Dandy Walker syndrome which affects his balance and coordination. His family has received a Family Fund Mobility Support grant, giving vital access to a lease car to transport Logan to emergency hospital and wider health appointments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mum Rebecca says: “Logan was diagnosed while I was 26 weeks pregnant. Having Dandy Walker syndrome means he doesn’t have much balance and he doesn’t talk, walk or do anything. We were basically told to expect him to be bed bound. Thankfully he’s not, he is on the opposite end of the scale. He still has issues with balance and has a food aversion, which makes it hard for us.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Logan’s family describe him as “a bubbly little character. He has such a cheeky personality. Logan absolutely adores his sister. He tries to get her to walk even though he doesn’t have much balance himself, he’ll try to get her to stand up and shuffle with him. He is a typical boy, anything that he shouldn’t play with he loves, like mud and stones.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Being granted a lease for a Ford Kuga has helped the family look after Logan, take him to appointments and bring additional equipment required to support his condition when they go out on day trips. It provides the family with a sense of reassurance when unexpected events occur, and has given Logan the chance to visit new places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“As a family we enjoy going out and spending quality family time together, going to the beach and visiting new places, but none of that would be possible without the car.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“Since having the car we have had three emergency trips to hospital. It’s made it a lot easier for us to get him there instead of having to wait for an ambulance.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
When she heard their application had been successful, Rebecca said it brought her to tears. “I felt like there was someone who is actually listening to what we were saying and understanding the struggles we’ve had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Whenever we go out, we need to take the double pram and, with his condition, he is always sick so we need to carry a spare car seat, clothes and blankets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We recently took him on his first holiday since having the car. We went to Wales and he absolutely loved it! It made me happy seeing him happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
