Alex, now 7 years old, was diagnosed with autism and sensory processing disorder aged four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“Alex is a happy-go-lucky child who has lots of energy and is very loving. He’s interested in lots of different subjects and likes to be stimulated all of the time.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
“Alex especially loves nature and exploring the world around him. We go to the beach a lot as he loves swimming and anything to do with water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“He has a really inquisitive mind and enjoys understanding how technology works. Alex’s favourite hobby is to play games and puzzles on the iPad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How Family Fund helped<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
“We were granted an iPad by Family Fund which was great because there’s lots of apps that you can use to support children with autism and additional needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Family Fund contacted me after my grant to say that there is also a workshop that I can attend to show me how the technology can further benefit my child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Accessing the training was really easy for me. The session was free and one-to-one online which was helpful. During the training we went through the iPad’s features and I learnt a lot about keeping Alex safe online. For example, I now know how to restrict certain content which might not be suitable for a child.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“I’m not the best with technology and it’s hard to keep up with it as it’s always changing so it was brilliant to have someone who can help one to one.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
“The session was a lot better than I thought it would be. I would definitely recommend the training to a friend. The trainer left time at the end for me to ask questions about what I wanted to know.
