We’re delighted to announce that Take a Break, which supports unpaid carers of disabled children and young people aged 0 to 20, has re-opened for applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This scheme is funded by Scottish Government and delivered by us here at Family Fund. Take a Break grants can be used flexibly to suit individual needs and interests. It can help towards things like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a holiday or short break away<\/li>\n\n\n\n
a day trip<\/li>\n\n\n\n
costs for sports, play, or leisure equipment<\/li>\n\n\n\n
digital devices and subscriptions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The grant scheme aims to improve unpaid carers’ quality of life, health and wellbeing. It does this by giving carers an opportunity to access a break from the day-to-day routine of caring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scottish Government is providing an additional £700,000 of funding this year, for the second year in a row. This brings the total Take a Break fund to £1.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Take a Break grant applications are open from Tuesday 9 May to 5:00pm on Monday 26 June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
