Superstar fundraiser Millie is taking on Challenge 50 to raise money for Family Fund in our 50th year. We caught up with Millie and mum Katie, to find out more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell us about your challenge:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Katie: “Millie is going to be riding 50 lengths of our street in one week- the equivalent of 9.1km. She’s only five and has just learned to ride her balance bike so it’s going to be quite a challenge for her, but she’s really excited.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millie: “Riding my bike lots. I’ll be zooming!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did you decide to fundraise for Family Fund?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Katie: “We saw Family Fund’s Anniversary and Challenge 50 on social media and wanted to get involved. Millie has been diagnosed with Irlen syndrome, which is a difficulty with visual perceptual processing, and means she’s extremely sensitive to light. She’s hypermobile so gets a lot of pain in her joints and uses a disability push chair, and she’s awaiting autism and ADHD assessments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Family Fund has helped us by providing a grant for a Haven holiday and Millie decided she wanted to do something to raise money so that another child could have the same opportunity. I’m really proud of her.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millie: “To help another boy or girl go on holiday.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How is the fundraising going?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Katie: “We’re doing really well so far, everyone has been really generous. Through our Just Giving page and our sponsorship form, we’ve raised £125.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Millie goes to Rainbows and during the week she’s doing her challenge. The Rainbows group are going to ride with her which will be great. We’ve had neighbours offer to walk up and down the street with her too, it’s nice to have so much support.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millie: “I’m excited to ride my bike and race with my friends!”<\/p>\n\n\n
